Commercial cosmetics are controlled fairly well in Europe, where about 1,200 substances are banned from being put in them. The problem is that, in the USA, the list is tiny by comparison. In fact, the list is only about 10 items long. Since there are so many hazardous materials out there, that's a potentially life-threatening problem.
Luckily, organic products are free of such hazardous materials. As long as they're properly certified, they should contain all natural ingredients. Everything about them is regulated, including the manufacturing process. They can't be certified until they pass many tests and meet many requirements.
You should, in fact, look for a BDIH certification on the products that you buy. That certification proves that third party testing facilities authorize a given product as organic. Remember that there's a difference between an organic product and one that contains a few natural components. Why is smoother skin so complicated?
Products don't automatically become magically healthy when a store stocks them. Just because a product is being sold doesn't mean that it's safe. The junk food industry is a prime example of that lack of caring. Yet, even though you know enough to understand the dangers of junk food, you may be totally unaware of the dangers of bad cosmetics.
So, the reality is that, if you're serious about skin care, you should buy certified organic cosmetics. In that way, you can avoid using dangerous products. In the long run, that means a much healthier body and a much happier mood.
